Mother, Hide

Splash. Splash. Splash.

Hear the soldiers march.

Wush. Wush. Wush.

The rain pours down.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Someone’s at the door.

Sniff. Sniff. Sniff.

The Mother cries alone.

Tink. Tink. Tink.

Glass falls to the floor.

Scream. Scream. Scream.

The Mother tries to run.

Crash. Crash. Crash.

The door is broken down.

Rip. Rip. Rip.

Hear the silk rip.

Rip. Rip. Rip.

The Mother’s gown is gone.

Drip. Drip. Drip.

The Mother starts to die.

Drip. Drip. Drip.

Her Children watch and cry.

Pitter-pat. Pitter-pat.

Her Children run to hide.

Stomp. Stomp. Stomp.

The soldiers move on.

Shh. Shh. Shh.

Don’t make a sound.

Shh. Shh. Shh.

Death is coming near.

Shh. Shh. Shh.

Hear the Silence?

Shh. Shh. Shh.

Drip. Drip. Drip…

I wrote this while reading my history book about some of the wars in Europe and all over the world. This is what happened when inspiration struck.
